Three cask offerings, the Juicy IPA from the Rude Giant Brew Co, Danny's Brew a bitter from Cerne Abbas and the Velveteen Stout from Dark Revolution. There were as many as 16 ciders available, listed by styles. Eight craft beers on offer from the taps behind the bar counter, the Shattered Mirror stout, the Zestiny Mandarin pale ale and the Lucky Numbers (strong) IPA all from Siren, the Krushed pale ale from Cornish brewer Pipeline, the Lager from Rude Giant Brew Co, the Twin Cities Hazy Pale Ale from Left Handed Giant, In the Loop Pale Ale from Track and the Tropical Sundae ice cream sour, a collab between Yonder and Left Handed Giant.

Small but well-formed tap room by the Waitrose on a busy stretch of road! There are a couple of barrel-based tables out the front. Inside it is bare boarded with the bar counter in the rear left-hand corner in a small rectangle from the glass frontage. High banquettes down the left- and right-hand walls serving tall tables with tall stools the other side thereof. There are a few tables on the right-hand wall beyond the edge of the bar counter in the rear right-hand corner, one of which is a booth table. Upper part of the walls are adorned by beer mats and pump clips. No screens and a low-key music soundtrack on my visit, the sound provided by locals in conversation. Thought this was a really good venue of its type.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Saxon Bar Ale House

Made a return visit to this micropub yesterday and I still rate it as the best pub in Christchurch. It can't long have opened when I was last here in 2019.

Located in an unattractive shopping development, there was just one other punter inside on our Saturday lunchtime visit. Although there were a few more enjoying a spot of sunshine outside to the front.

The pub is a typical micropub format with bench-type seating in a single room with a corridor alongside the cool room leading to a couple of toilets.

There is a good selection of cask ales, real ciders and craft beers. There were 6 cask ales - Otter Ale, Siren Recurring Dream, Cerne Abbas Blonde, Exmoor Fox, Dark Revolution Let It Flow & Downton Honey Blonde. Between us, we tried them all and they were in good condition.

Ciders were Snail's Bank Rhubarb Cider & Raspberry Ripple, Seacider Blood Orange Cider & Bakewell Tart, Thistly Cross Whisky Cask, Dorset Nectar Elderflower Cider, Top O' The Hill, Dabinett & Wildcat, Tutts Clump Mulled Cider, Cranborne Dry & Vintage & Perry's Barn Owl. Craft beers were Dark Revolution Techno Head, Polly's Eden, Time & Tide Spratwaffler, Boscombe Yard Sale, Double-Barrelled New Science & Vault City Strawberry Banana Milkshake.

With a decent soundtrack providing a nice backdrop, the only slight negative was the lack of customers and therefore atmosphere. But I bet it gets much busier later in the evening.

Cask Fan left this review about The Saxon Bar Ale House

A typical micropub in a newish shopping development. Mostly high tables inside and there is seating outside. Three cask ales, a range of keg beers and ciders, wines, and spirits. All the casks that I tried were of excellent quality.
